Meet Ruth
About me
From the time I was 3 years old, I knew I wanted to play the piano. My dream came true on Christmas morning when I awoke to a tiny baby grand, complete with little plastic stool. It filled my heart with glee! Soon after, I began taking lessons and studied Classical music with a teacher who was trained at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City.
Music is one of life’s greatest gifts and I am passionate about sharing it with my students. It’s very rewarding to lead my students on their musical journey. The excitement and pride my students have of learning a new piece is indescribable.
What I can offer

I am a patient and devoted piano tutor offering Private lessons to students ages 4 through adult. Although I am classically trained, many of my students prefer to learn their favorite pop songs. This can be achieved by incorporating sight reading, rhythm, chords, scales, musical notation, and homework into my lesson plans.
What makes me unique?
I can relate to my students and understand we all have different learning styles. There is not a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching music. I am very patient with students of all abilities and will continue to introduce new concepts and techniques until you or your child comprehends the material.
In addition, I take a personal interest in learning what types of music my students enjoy. I will be happy to rewrite your favorite piece to make it beginner friendly, which is a great confidence-builder.
I go the extra mile
As a bonus, I am available to answer any questions you may have in-between lessons. You won’t need to wait until the next lesson and risk slowing down your progress. In addition, all lesson and theory books will be provided to you free of charge as part of the lesson!
What to expect during your first lesson
Your first lesson will include a review of the piano keys and finding patterns between the white and black keys. You will also learn to recognize high and low pitch. I will introduce the musical alphabet and music theory so you will learn to read music. By the end of the lesson, you will be able to play a short piece.
What I ask from parents and prospective students
I encourage all my students to ask questions about anything they don’t understand. It’s equally important that my students have a desire to learn music and understand that they will only be successful if they devote time to practice (I suggest at least 10 minutes a day for beginners).
Dedication
I dedicate this site to my mother. She has been my guiding light and support throughout my life. Without her, none of this would be possible. Thanks Mom!
We’d love to hear from you!
